FISHING CREEK - Ronnie Bennett Jones, 68, passed away at his home on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008.

He was born on Hoopers Island on April 15, 1939 and was the son of the late Wilson Bennett Jones and Olive "Sis" Creighton Guthrie.

On July 3, 1957 he was married to the former Betty Ann Foxwell. They made their home at Fishing Creek for the past 50 years.

He lived his entire life on the island. Mr. Jones worked as a waterman and was the owner and operator of Three Ann's Seafood. He retired last year due to declining health. He was a member of the White Haven United Methodist Church in Church Creek.

He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Jones of Fishing Creek; two daughters, Diane Aull of Auburn, Ala. and Jo Ann Adams and her husband, Gary Adams of Rhodesdale; three granddaughters, Ashley Mitchell and her husband, Clay Mitchell, Michelle Thomas and Rhonda Adams; two great-grandsons, Caden Bennett Mitchett and Colson Mitchett; a sister, Joyce Jones Bromwell and a brother, Eldred "Satch" Jones and his wife, Beverly Jones, all of Cambridge; an uncle, Donald Jones; aunts, Betty Hurley and Betty Lea Parks, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jay Jones, Harry Phillips, Martin Tolley, Tom "Bubby" Powley, Darcy Shockley and Gary Adams.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. A visitation was held on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
