SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Ronald Gene "Codfish" Wilson, 61, died suddenly on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, aboard his boat in San Diego, Calif.

Born on Aug. 17, 1945, in Henderson, Nevada, he was the son of the late Ernest Andrew Wilson and Margaret Wilhelmina Toth Wilson.

Mr. Wilson was a commercial fisherman all of his life, where he traveled all over the world. His friends called him "Codfish."

He served his country in the United States Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War from June 5, 1967, to May 22, 1969.

Surviving are two children, Jolynn Wilson of Mexico and Ronald Andrew "Ronnie" Wilson of Cambridge, from the union of his former wife, Bonnie Suzane "Sue" Todd Wilson. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Makayla Wilson and Damian Thomas, both of Cambridge; two sisters, Barbara Hawke, Peggy Tate; five brothers, Ernest Wilson, Owen Duffey, Charles Duffey, Joseph Duffey, James Duffey; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., in Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Joseph Kelly. Inurnment will be held at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah. A memorial service was held last week for family and friends in San Diego aboard his boat Independence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the funeral home to assist in paying for final services.
