SALISBURY - Roger Lawrence Webster died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 at his home. Born March 5, 1930, in Deal Island, he was the son of the late Carl and Beatrice Webster. After graduating from Deal Island High School, he joined the U.S. Arm, serving in Germany at the end of World War II. Back at home, he worked in the dry cleaning business and later as a master carpenter and cabinet maker, as well as an accomplished artist who constructed precise wooden scale models of skip-jacks and other sailing vessels of the Chesapeake Bay. He is survived by brothers, Mark Webster of Deal Island, Charles Webster of Pocomoke City and Wayne Webster of Princess Anne; sisters, Fannie May Taylor of Salisbury, Diane Powell of Salisbury, Ruth Twining of Princess Anne and Ruby Ring of Westover; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by his three stepsons and their families, Bruce K. Widdowson of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Dirk W. Widdowson of Bishopville; Blake R. Widdowson of Richmond; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris M. Webster; and his second wife of 40 years, Joyce W. Webster; a sister, Elizabeth Andrew of Salisbury; and brothers, Walter Webster of Deal Island, Albert Webster of Towson, Lloyd Webster of Salisbury, Carl Webster of Salisbury and Wesley Webster of Princess Anne. A funeral service was held Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Holloway Funeral Home. Burial was at Wicomico Memorial Gardens.
