ESTHERVILLE, Iowa - Robert S. Wright Jr., 53, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Esterville.
He was born March 14, 1953, the son of Robert and Claire L. (Spedden) Wright Sr. in Cambridge.
Mr. Wright grew up and received his education in Cambridge. After he was in the United States Army, he traveled around the country working for the Carnival. He then worked in Maryland doing construction and laying telephone cable. When he moved to the Estherville area, he worked for Christensen Construction Co. for a time before working for Kidd Construction Co. in Spirit Lake for 11 years.
On Nov. 23, 1991, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Skog in Arnolds Park, Iowa. Mr. Wright began driving truck for Cargo Carriers out of Sherburn, Minn., last year. Since September, he had drove a truck for Jerry Stover.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved to drive a truck and also enjoyed motorcycling and old cars and he especially liked his new pickup truck. Most important was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Wright of Wallingford; his sons, Robert Christopher Wright of Salisbury; Cody Wright of Wallingford; two stepsons, Cory Peter and his wife, Vicki of Milford; Ryan Peter and his wife, Laura of Pearl City, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Bryce, Blake, Hannah and Brayden; a sister, Ellen Paul and brother, Allan Wright and his wife, Becky, all of Cambridge.
He has been preceded in death by his parents, one son and grandparents.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Estherville. Burial will follow in East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville, Iowa.
