Robert Mills

CAMBRIDGE - Robert "Bob" Mills, formerly of Cambridge, departed this life Feb. 2, 2011, in Fort Lauqerdale, Fla. Bob was born on July 18, 1934, the son of Roland and Jeanette Mills. He was a member of the 1951 Cambridge High Raiders, the first team to defeat Wicomico High School in football, graduating in 1952. He attended University of Miami, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. A 30 year government career began with U.S. Army. During active service he was stationed Korea, taught NCO's at Fort Benning, was instructor of Special Forces and psychological warfare at Fort Bragg, and attained the rank of Captain. He was sworn into FBI in 1963 with numerous postings including New York and Puerto Rico. He spent the majority of his career at the Miami office, first as an FBI National Academy Coordinator, then as supervisor of the first FBI Narcotics Squad. He retired in 1986 to enjoy life, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by two loving daughters, Cynthia (Joe) Clark, and Sheridan (David) Mills; a sister, Ellen Mills Gibbs of Plantation, Fla.; nephews and nieces, Sean, Dan, Caty, and Maggie Gibbs, and their families; cousins, Jane Kirwin Park, Pat Stansbury, and Carolyn Hurley. Friends and family were received on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, from 3:30 p.m. until the start of the memorial service at the TM Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, 7001 NW 4 Street. In his name, the family suggests donations to the David Samuel Finkelstein Memorial Foundation payable to Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, 439 Landing Loop, West Westerville, OH 43082.
