Robert Lee 'Buddy' Elzey
CAMBRIDGE - Robert Lee "Buddy" Elzey, 74, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Chesapeake Woods Center.
He was born in Dorchester County on July 13, 1933 and was a son of the late Robert Lee and Della Wroten Elzey.
Mr. Elzey attended school in Church Creek and in Cambridge. He had worked for Phillips Packing Co., Dorsett Marine and later at the Cambridge Port as a cargo handler. On Dec. 21, 1951 he married the former Betty Mae Wheatley.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mae Elzey of Cambridge; eight sisters, Sallie M. Crandell of Baltimore, Ruth Lankford of Federalsburg, Katie Crandell of Federalsburg, Doris Marshall of Hudson, Lucille Barnes of Woolford, Joyce Horseman of Madison, Brenda Willey of East New Market and Peggy Horseman of Madison; two brothers, Elwood Elzey of Madison and Calvin Elzey of Church Creek and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Mae Elzey; a brother, Johnny Elzey and two sisters, Louise Eskridge and Joanne Elzey.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Abraham Lankford officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Bramble Sr., Thomas Calvin Bradley, Billy Marshall Jr., Rick Hall, Bill Smith and Sam Horseman.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
