Robert Dale Whitten

Robert Dale Whitten, 54 SALISBURY, Md. - Robert Dale Whitten, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Coastal Hospice at the Lake. He was 54. Born in Dover, he was the son of Patricia Willey Phillips and her husband, Dave of Salisbury, Md., and the late Robert Oliver Whitten. A welder by trade, Robert loved fishing, and cooking his own creations. A member of First United Pentecostal Church in Salisbury, Md., he finished three semesters at Texas Bible College. Robert was a lay preacher and taught many bible studies. Robert was known fondly to his friends and family as "pop pop turtleman." He will be missed dearly by his wife of 19 years, Linda L. Whitten; daughter, Melissa Whitten of Cambridge, Md.; three grandchildren, Airrianna, Nicholas and Michael; a brother, Ralph Whitten and his wife, Jody of Laurel; two sisters, Renee Adkins and her husband, Patrick of Salisbury, Md. and Ruthanna Lucas and her husband, John of East New Marke, Md.; three nieces and six nephews; his cat, Fat Boy; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A memorial service was 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Eastern Shore in Hurlock, Md. Arrangements were handled by the staff of Bounds Funeral Home.
