Revell scores victory in Super Pro Final

Sunday was the final tune-up prior to the NHRA Northeast Division 1 Bracket finals at the U.S. 13 this coming week but at the end of the day it was some new faces taking the final rounds.

W.J. Revell of Georgetown drove his Camaro to the win in Super Pro while Brice Cornish of Hurlock wheeled his ’68 Chevy II to the Pro win.

The Pro Bike win went to invader, Barry Stephen of Lafayette, N.J., on a Suzuki and Bobby Jones of Laurel took his ’94 Corvette to the win in Street.

Other winners on the day included: Joe Schwartz of Winter Park, Fla. In Hot Rod; Cody Drummond of Laurel in Jr. Dragster 1 and Alex Bradford of Newark, Md., in Jr. Dragster 2.

The Super Pro win was supposed to be a matchup between W.J. Revell and Frank Lecates of Salisbury.

Lecates’ trans break failed to hold while he staged resulting in a foul and Revell had a .008 reaction time and ran a 9.933/134.56 on a 9.86 dial for the win. Semi-finalist was Tom Stulir of Felton, who lost to Revell.

Brice Cornish met Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne in the Pro final. Cornish had the better reaction time and took the win with a 10.603/123.55 on a 10.59 dial.

Beauchamp broke out with a 10.228/121.42 on a 10.24 dial. Semi-finalists were Janet Baden of Millersville, Md. who lost to Beauchamp and Marcus Wongus of Rhodesdale, Md. who lost to Cornish.

Barry Stephen rode up against James Farmer of Denton in the Pro Bike final. Stephen was near perfect in taking the win with a .006 reaction and was dead on his dial with a 9.480/125.64 on a 9.48 dial.

Farmer ran an 8.526/149.50 on an 8.49 dial. Semi-finalist was Marquise Blake of Frankford, who lost to Stephen.

Bobby Jones defeated Sara Davis of Laurel in the Street final.

Jones had the better start and ran a 13.611/105.31 on a 13.56 dial. Davis had a 12.938/102.76 on a 12.88 dial. In Hot Rod it was Joe Schwartz taking his second win with a 12.290/107.53 on a 12.30 dial.

His opponent, Gavin Truitt of Frankford broke and was unable to make the final run.

In Jr. Dragster 1 it was Cody Drummond paired with Nyck Shirkey of Ridgely. Drummond added to his win total for the year when he was dead on his dial with an 8.900/70.78 on an 8.90 dial.

Shirkey broke out with an 8.870/73.91 on an 8.90 dial. Alex Bradford took on Kody Mariner of Salisbury in the Jr. Dragster 2 final. Mariner broke out with a 7.887/81.16 on a 7.90 dial and Bradford took the victory with a 7.942/82.09 on a 7.94 dial.

Drag race teams from all over the Mid-Atlantic, the Northeast and Canada will converge on the U.S. 13 Dragway this week for the NHRA Northeast Division 1 Bracket finals.

The track opened on Wednesday, with eliminations on Saturday.
