CAMBRIDGE - The Rev. Edward H. Jackson, 98, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Chesapeake Woods Nursing Home.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1908, in Bucktown, son of the late Charles E. and Martha P. Stanley Jackson.
He was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County.
At an early age he became a member of Bazzel United Methodist Church in Bucktown, until it closed. While there he was a Trustee.
He was one of the founders of the Harriett Tubman Organization. At the time of his death he was the oldest member of the Good Shepherd Organization. He was the also the oldest member of the Pride of Cambridge Masonic Lodge 50 and a Past Master.
In 1948 the Rev. Jackson went into the ministry. His first appointment was at St. Johns Church at Hoopersville. He also served Taylors Island Charge, Church Hill Charge and Clarksville, Del. He retired from the ministry in 1979. After retirement he served at John Wesley UM Church at Linas Road until his illness caused him to retire again.
The Rev. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Dorsey Jackson, four brothers and three sisters.
His survivors include a daughter, Elva Allen and son in-law, Andrew Allen and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at St. Luke UM Church, 712 Bradley Ave., Cambridge with the Rev. Yvonne Wallace Penn officiating. Burial will follow in Bucktown Cemetery.
There will be a viewing this evening from 6-8 at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.
