EASTON - Retta Potter Freeman, 60, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007, at The Pines in Easton.
Born June 19, 1946, in Easton, she was the daughter of the late John Henson Potter and Mary Agnes Potter.
She was educated in the Talbot County Public School System. Retta was employed by the Vo-Tech Center, Old Salt Seafood, Robert Morris Inn, Harbortown Marina and her final job was private sitting until her health would no longer allow her to do so.
"Nana," as she was affectionately called by many, loved her church and church family. She worked in many capacities of the church, the nursery and her favorite thing was singing on the Women"s Day Choir. Retta loved working on black heritage and family roots projects along with Gelson Brooks.
She is survived by one daughter, Denise "Cookie" Potter; two granddaughters, Jemeke Warner and Alisa Carr; a grandson, Diontae "Cabby" Potter; four great-grandchildren, Jaira Miles, Ja"Tye Stewart, Kierra and Alaysia Carr; three godchildren, Hope Limberry, Brandy Nichols and La Juan Groce; a brother, Maurice Potter; four sisters, Frances, Mildred and Bertha Potter and Betty Lou Single; two brothers-in-law, Robert Jones and William Single; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Potter; a devoted companion, Phillip Thompson; two lifelong friends, Anna Wilson and Linda Trice and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, an aunt, a brother, two sisters, three nephews, two nieces and a special son, Nevin Potter.
Services will be held 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, at Union Baptist Church, 233 Glenwood Ave., Easton, with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in Richard"s Memorial Park.
