The first day of spring is fast approaching and we can’t wait to get outside and start our spring activities. With everything from the new U14 WYBL session to Men’s Slow Pitch Softball to the Jr. Eastern Shore Golf League, both youth and adult members of the community have a chance to join in the fun.

To register for recreation programs or learn more about programs and events, visit WicomicoRecandParks.org. Registration is also available at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center box office, located at 500 Glen Ave. in Salisbury. Box office hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding holidays.

WYBL Spring League

The new spring session of the Wicomico Youth Basketball League is still open for registration through March 23. The league is team-entry-only for athletes ages 14 and under.

It is designed to give players the opportunity to participate with their travel teams on weekends as well as allow time for them to develop their skills during the week.

Fees are $350 per team and there is no individual registration. The season will run April 6-May 13. Girls will play Monday evenings and boys will play Wednesday evenings.

Coed Incrediball

Join this social softball league to try something new. Incrediball is played like softball, but with a different, softer ball. The league is for players 16 and up.

Registration is open until May 29 and fees are $325 per team. Each team can have a maximum of 16 players on its roster, and during play at least three women must be on the field for your team.

Junior Girls Softball

From Li’l Miss T-Ball to Major I League, Junior Girls Softball has opportunities for girls of skill levels to get out on the field this season. Li’l Miss T-Ball is for girls ages 4-6, Ponytail is for athletes 8 and under, Pre-Minor is for players ages 10 and under, Minor is for girls 12 and under and Major I is for athletes 16 and under.

The season runs May 4 through late June. Registration is open now through March 13. Li’l Miss T-Ball is $30 per player, Ponytail and Pre-Minor are $50 per player and Minor and Major I are $55 per player. Late fees apply after March 13.

Junior Eastern Shore Golf League

Teeing off for its sixth season, the Junior Eastern Shore Golf League is open for registration. The program is for golfers ages 8-18 with two divisions and four tee locations that are dependent upon age group. Matches are played Mondays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

Locations include Nutters Crossing Golf Club, Green Hill Country Club, Elks Golf Club, and other courses if necessary.

Registration closes May 1 and the season begins May 4. Program fees are $50 per person and an additional $5 due at the course.

Men’s and Coed Softball

Men’s slow pitch softball and coed softball leagues are USSSA sanctioned and for players age 16 and up. With multiple divisions, players of all skill levels can find a place on a team.

Men’s softball is played Monday-Thursday nights beginning in March and continuing through June. There are two entry options for this league. Team entry fees are $950 and league entry fees are $435 per team plus $40 per individual player. Late fees for registration begin March 7.
