CAMBRIDGE - Raymond L. Jones passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16. Mr. Jones was born in Endicott, N.Y. in 1919, the son of the late Fred T. and Martha Baer Jones. He was married for 65 years to Hortense M. Jones, of Tunnelton, W.Va. Mr. Jones served in the Army in the 29th Infantry Division during WWII and received the Bronze Star medal for meritorious achievement in military operations. After 43 years with IBM, Raymond and Hortense retired to New Bern, N.C., until Hortense passed in 2009. Raymond then moved to Maryland to be closer to family. He was an accomplished woodworker and bird carver, and the best son, husband, and father anyone could ask for. Raymond is survived by his children, Jerry Jones, of Warren, Vt., and Janette Jones, of Cambridge; and by two nephews, Larry and his wife, Charlotte, of Conway, Ark., and Dave and his wife, Shawnise, of Spanish Fort, Ala., and their families. We extend our sincere thanks to the caring and professional staff at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
