“Katie always had the patient's comfort in mind and was an extremely strong advocate for him, particularly with his physicians. She cared for this gentleman for many days, even when he was unable to talk or respond to any appreciable degree. Katie did everything in her power to make this man's life better, including repositioning, warm blankets, oral care, lotions and baths,” wrote her nominator. “She spoke often to the family and took the necessary time to answer their questions, which is a hard line to walk at such a difficult time for everyone.”
