Natalie Gankiewicz earns Daisy Award
Registered Nurse Natalie Gankiewicz, who works in the Intensive Care Unit at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, was recently honored with the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her compassionate and skilled care.
Gankiewicz’s nominator said she consistently role models caring and empathy while treating patients in the ICU, but recently went above and beyond to ensure the needs and wishes of her patient were exceeded.
“Just before Christmas, Natalie cared for an elderly patient in the last days of her life. The patient was able to communicate that she was tired, just wanted to be comfortable, and wanted to be able to pass with her husband by her side. But first, her dying wish was to be sure her family had special gifts to open on Christmas morning. Natalie jumped to action to make it happen. She sat with the patient and helped her so all the gifts could be ordered and delivered in time for Christmas Day.”
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in California and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes.
