Police issue warning on bike thefts
Salisbury Police said they have seen an increase in bicycle thefts during the past months and they are asking the public for help.
Police said in the southern part of the city there have been incidents clustered in student housing areas near South Division Street and Smith Street, as well as residential areas in the Princeton Homes, Presidents’ and Camden neighborhoods.
Thirteen suspects have been arrested, with 10 of them being juveniles, police said.
Police are asking the public to pay attention to strangers traveling on foot or on bicycles, Â juveniles loitering in residential areas where they do not live and a person or group traveling with extra bicycles.
Residents should secure bicycles and keep valuable property out of sight or locked, police said, because two-thirds of the stolen bikes were not locked.
