The Alzheimer’s Association invites the community to help reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Eastern Shore Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Salisbury/Wicomico Senior Services Center
Hosted by the Greater Maryland Chapter, this year’s annual event will feature television personalities from WMDT-47 and entertainment from local band, Thin Ice.
Susan Purnell of Kuhn’s Jewelers is the Honorary Chair for the 2014 Walk, while Bill Martin of Martin ERA Associates and Jim Volk of Hileman Real Estate will serve as co-chairs.
The senior center is located at 909 Progress Circle in Salisbury.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 10, that will focus on the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association and honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Everyone is encouraged to arrive early to enjoy food and refreshments provided by Lankford Sysco, Giant Food and Panera Bread, live entertainment and fun activities.
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Last year’s events in Maryland drew more than 5,000 Walkers and raised over $900,000.
Participants can register as individuals or teams. Those who raise at least $100 will receive a Walk to End Alzheimer’s T-shirt.
