PRESTON - Phyllis Louise Wroten, 93, died at Ruxton Health of Denton on Monday, March 17, 2008.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1915 on Elliott Island in Dorchester County, the daughter of the late Riley and Lavinia Gray Horseman. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ira Edwin Gray in 1955 and George Wroten in 1988.
During her life she worked with her husband, Ira Edwin Gray on the family farm at Elliott Island growing vegetables. She later worked for Elliott Brothers Seafood on Elliott Island and later Calvert Tiley Seafood and last worked at Airpax in Cambridge.
While living on Elliott Island she was a worker at all of the events at Elliott Island United Methodist Church. After leaving Elliott Island she was a founding and active member of Faith Fellowship Church in Preston.
She is survived by two sons, Edwin Ira Gray (Freida) of Woodstown, N.J. and Donald William Gray (Mary Linda) of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Michael Scott Gray of Hartley, Del., Lindsay Hernandez (Juan) of Cambridge, Gary Gray (Cathy) of Pennsville, N.J., and Arlene Ruesswick (Wayne) of Woodstown, N.J.; three great-grandchildren, Patrick Gray (Carrie) of Wilmington, Del. and Amanda Ruesswick, both of Woodstown and Katelyn Hernandez of Cambridge, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lottie Horseman, Tina Horseman, Frances Newcomb and a brother, Hobb Horseman.
Funeral services for her will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Rev. Howard Dunn and the Rev. Robert Stover officiating. Burial will follow in Unity-Washington Cemetery in Hurlock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Gary Gray, Brian McGinnis, Juan Hernandez, James Dunn, Mike Dunn and Chuck Boone.
The family has requested that donations be made in her memory to either; Faith Fellowship Church, 23714 Collins Road, Preston, MD 21655 or Elliott Island United Methodist Church, c/o Peggy Gray, 2522 Pokes Road, Vienna, MD 21869.
