Philip L. Kirwan

EASTON - Philip L. Kirwan, Sr. died on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. He was 87. Born on April 6, 1927, in Cambridge, Md., he was the son of Ralph Benjamin and Mildred Alverta Foxwell Kirwan. Mr. Kirwan served in the Army during WWII. He married the former Ethel Murray on November 6, 1959. For the majority of his working career, he was a tractor and trailer mechanic for Elliott Bros. Trucking and at the time of his retirement, he worked for Orion Safety Products. Philip was a member of the First Baptist Church of Easton. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5118 in Easton. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and most of all, spending time with his family. Mr. Kirwan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ethel; his children, Candi Kirwan, Judith L. Risher (Dennis), Millie Brown (Brian), Philip Kirwan, Jr., Jacki Carels (Rob); ten grandchildren, Micah, Jessica, Matt, Jamie, Jennifer, Philip, Taelor, Kaleigh, Camryn and Zachary; eight great-grandchildren, Louis, Andrew, Austin, Josh R., Jason, Emma, Ava and Joshua H.; two very special nieces, Sherri Wyatt and Tammi Satchell; and a brother, Russell E. Kirwan. He was predeceased by four brothers and a sister. A visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St. in Easton. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Easton, 115 Idlewild Ave. Burial will be at White Marsh Cemetery, Trappe, Md.
