Allison L. Shockley recently passed the Architectural Registration Examination to become a Registered Architect. To obtain this registration, an individual must pass seven exams and fulfill education and experience requirements set forth by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

Shockley is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Master’s in Architecture. As an Architect at Becker Morgan Group, her responsibilities include architectural design, specification, and project management.

Project experience includes the Ocean City Convention Center Performing Arts Center, Laurel High School Middle School, Delmar Public Library and numerous projects at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

SERVPRO promotes Sartorio to general manager

Area SERVPRO has announced the promotion of Michael Sartorio to general manager of three Eastern Shore SERVPRO franchises covering eight Eastern Shore counties.

Michael Sartorio is the son of Robb Sartorio.

“The promotion of Michael to general manager is a natural part of growing our SERVPRO franchises and further develop the SERVPRO brand as the leader in restoration services on the Eastern Shore,” said Robb Sartorio.

Sartorio is a native of Salisbury where he still lives with his wife and daughter.

SERVPRO provides restoration services to home or commercial structures caused by water, fire and flood damage.

Marie Beckey joins Coastal Realtors

The Coastal Association of Realtors announced today that Marie McFarland Beckey has joined its staff as the new Education and Communications Specialist to bring professional development and continuing education courses to the association membership.

A former Realtor with Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Salisbury, Beckey brings to CAR a wealth of knowledge regarding the local industry.

Beckey also has a strong business background, having taught business courses at both Salisbury University and Wor-Wic Community College, and working formerly as a business consultant in various capacities.

She also has a media and public relations background, as she worked for WBOC-TV in Salisbury as an assignment editor and videographer, and as a promotions and public relations manager for Perdue Farms.

Procino joins SVN-Miller Commercial Real Estate

Brent Miller, managing director with Sperry Van Ness – Miller Commercial Real Estate in Salisbury, has announced that Michael Procino has joined the SVN-Miller team as an advisor. Procino will be working out of the satellite Seaford office with SVN-Miller Senior Advisor Tom Knopp.

Prior to joining SVN-Miller, Mike served as a broker/agent at Home Team Realty in Seaford for 10 years. He has also been a valuable part of his family manufacturing business supporting the restaurant industry for over 32 years.

Robson named to Financial Advisors Council

Bruce W. Robson, a Certified Financial Planner, has accepted the 2015 chairmanship of the Financial Advisors Council of the Financial Services Institute Inc.

FSI is the principle advocacy organization for  independent financial advisors and their clients.

Robson is a 30-year financial planning veteran and a co-founder of Comprehensive Financial Solutions in Salisbury.

FSI, headquartered in Washington, D.C., has a mission to be the “Voice of Independent Financial Services Firms and Independent Financial Advisors.” FSI wants “to ensure that all individuals have access to competent and affordable financial advice and sound investment solutions delivered by a growing network of independent financial advisors and independent financial services firms.”

Ray Perdue joins First Shore Federal as controller

Raymond Perdue of Snow Hill has joined the staff of First Shore Federal Savings & Loan Association as controller.

Perdue graduated from Salisbury University with a major in accounting in 2008.  He was formerly a staff accountant for PKS & Co. in Salisbury and prior to that served an internship with Perdue Farms.

“We are most pleased to have Ray Perdue join our management team,” said Diane Turner, vice president and chief financial officer of First Shore. “We’re confident that he’ll do an outstanding job for First Shore as we expand and continue to serve our customers on the Lower Shore of Maryland and Delaware.”

Perdue assumes the office vacated with the promotion of Sue Vincent to chief of internal auditing and Snow Hill branch manager.

First Shore is headquartered in Salisbury and has nine branches on Delmarva.

Sue Vincent promoted at First Shore Federal

Sue Vincent of Salisbury has been promoted to the position of Head of Internal Audit and Snow Hill Branch Manager for First Shore Federal Savings & Loan Association.

Vincent has been with First Shore for more than 18 years, having served as controller for the past 11 years. She has a degree in business administration and accounting from Bloomsburg State College in Pennsylvania.

“We are pleased to announce this reorganization of duties and the promotion of Ms. Vincent,” said Marty Neat, president and CEO of First Shore.  “We’re confident that she’ll do a great job as Snow Hill Branch Manager while at the same time adding strength to our internal audit and management team.”

First Shore Federal, with nearly $300 million in assets, is headquartered in Salisbury and has nine branches on Delmarva.  A ninth branch, being constructed in Millsboro DE, will open early in 2015.

Thompson joins Wor-Wic as project manager

Wor-Wic Community College recently welcomed Ken Thompson of Salisbury as project manager.

Before coming to Wor-Wic, he was the director of project management at Cambridge International in Cambridge. Thompson has 18 years of experience in construction project management.

He received his associate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Guam.
