Tyler Barnes joins Gillis Gilkerson
Gillis Gilkerson has announced the addition of project manager Tyler Barnes to the company in the first quarter of 2016.
As project manager, Barnes is responsible for leading, coordinating and directing the day to day management of construction projects from inception through completion.
In addition, he will manage the administrative and technical side of projects to ensure quality work delivered on time and on budget.
Barnes worked for Gillis Gilkerson prior to and during his college career. He brings 12 years of construction experience to the position. In 2010, upon graduation from University of Maryland Eastern Shore, with a Bachelor of Science in construction management, Barnes worked for Bozzuto in Washington, D.C. He was given the opportunity to work on a variety of complex, urban/infill and mixed-use projects. Other experience included his work as an owner representative and construction manager for The University of Maryland, College Park.
Barnes served as the Safety Representative for the Department of Design and Construction while at University of Maryland and also received the State of Maryland Soil Erosion and Sediment Control certification. He is also OSHA 30 and Green Globes Professional certified. He is a Blood Bank of Delmarva member and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.
Brent Miller earns Virginia broker’s license
Brent Miller, Managing Director of SVN | Miller Commercial Real Estate, recently earned his Real Estate Brokers License in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
To become licensed as a real estate broker, 180 hours of board-approved courses must be completed and the state broker examination must be passed. In addition to Virginia, Brent Miller also holds his Brokers License in Maryland and Delaware.
“This allows us to assist our clients that currently have property in Virginia in addition to those looking to expand in the Virginia market,” Miller said. “The proximity to our main office in Salisbury enables us to serve the entire Delmarva Peninsula.”

Jones-Ward joins Wor-Wic
Wor-Wic Community College recently welcomed Denean Jones-Ward of Pocomoke City as a Director of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
She has 12 years of experience in program administration, most recently as administrator of the adult education and family literacy program at Wor-Wic.
Jones-Ward received her bachelor's degree from Boston University in Massachusetts and her master's degree from Wilmington University.
She and her husband, Anthony E. Ward Jr., have three children.
Wiley tapped for President’s Club Award
Stephanie Willey, Local Sales Manager of Comcast Spotlight’s Salisbury West Team, was named a winner in the company’s annual President’s Club Awards program for 2015.
Willey is a 10-year veteran at Comcast Spotlight and now a two-time President’s Club winner, the company’s biggest annual celebration of sales excellence.
She will be among 150 elite sales and industry professionals from across the country to be honored and rewarded for their achievements in 2015 during an awards trip to the beautiful Caribbean island of Curacao this month.
“Comcast Spotlight is very proud of Stephanie and the collaborative effort of the team Stephanie leads,” said Sue Dalton, General Sales Manager of Comcast Spotlight in the Salisbury market.

Coastal Hospice announces promotions
Coastal Hospice & Palliative Care announces the promotions of three valuable staff members.
Valerie Beckwith has been promoted to Director of Human Resources, overseeing the 153 employees of Coastal Hospice. Beckwith, a resident of Princess Anne, has been with Coastal Hospice for 17 years.
Kevin Ireland has been promoted to Director of Regional Facilities Infrastructure. He is responsible for Coastal Hospice’s facilities on Old Ocean Road and Philmore Commons in Salisbury, Coastal Hospice at the Lake at Deer’s Head Hospital, Coastal Hospice at the Ocean in Berlin, and the Coastal Hospice Thrift Shop in Berlin. Ireland has been with the agency for 14 years.
Nancy Stewart has been promoted to Provider Relations Manager and is the hospice’s liaison to area physicians, medical practices and healthcare facilities. Stewart, a resident of Salisbury, has been with Coastal Hospice for 5 years.
Founded in 1980, Coastal Hospice is a nonprofit health care organization that cares for individuals facing life-limiting conditions but who want to remain as active and engaged as possible. Coastal Hospice cares for patients in their home, nursing home, assisted living facility or at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.
Dickerson joins Bank of Delmarva
Edward M. Thomas, President and CEO of The Bank of Delmarva, recently announced that Brooke L. Dickerson, CCBIA joined the Bank as Vice President and Internal Auditor.
Dickerson graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance in 2003. She comes to the bank with 12 years of bank auditing experience and obtained her Community Bank Internal Auditor Certification from the Independent Community Bankers of America. Brooke lives in Laurel with her husband and 2 children.
