
Pauline Eloise Walston, age 95, better known as Polly, of Salisbury passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth Downing, husband, Richard Walston, and daughter, Ellen Walston. She is survived by her son, Tom Walston, and son-in-law, Ed Otter (late, Ellen Walston).
Polly graduated from Wicomico High School in 1946 and Salisbury State Teacher College in 1950. She loved teaching and retired as a kindergarten teacher from Glen Ave. Elementary School after more than twenty-five years.
After retirement, she took a trip each year with several friends and loved seeing the world. Polly was a member of the Wicomico Retired Education Person's, Holly Center Volunteers, The Girls of '46 Lunch Bunch, and the Pittsville Craft Group.
Polly was a lifetime member of Bethesda UMC. She loved participating in all church activities especially the Altar Guild, Holiday Bazaars, Thursday Morning Bible Study, Women's Church Circle, and monthly lunches.
Throughout her life, she loved volunteering and helping others and always took pride in playing an important role. From being a Girl Scout leader, Holly Center Volunteer, and many church groups; helping others always mattered to her. Up until the time of her death, she continued to knit baby blankets, hats, and lap blankets to help those in need. Although, her most important work was always being available and providing love and support to her family.
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10am at Wicomico Memorial Park, 721 Snow Hill Road. Rev. Dr. Dan Rich of Bethesda United Methodist Church will officiate the service.
