Patrick G. Congro

SALISBURY - Patrick G. Congro, 76, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1938, he was the son of the late Basil and Mary Congro. He was a U.S. Marine Corps corporal, serving during the Vietnam Conflict in the Helicopter Division. He joined the Texaco Corp. in the sales division, was marketing vice president for Cray Oil Co. in Walpole, N.H., Cato Oil Co. in Salisbury and Peninsula Oil Co. in Seaford. Then he owned and operated The Oil Spot in Salisbury and Seaford. In 2003, he was named one of the Business Advisory Council's Businessmen of the Year, published in the Wall Street Journal. He was a member of the Lions Club for most of his life and was awarded the Melvin Harris Award, the highest honor for Lion's Club members. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane; his children, Patricia, Michael, David and Stephen; and three grandchildren; brothers, Stephen, Vito, Basil and Louis; sisters, Mary Bligh and Caroline Russo; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 8, 2015, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
