EAST NEW MARKET - Patricia Ann "Pat" Hoffman passed away at the age of 74 on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Memorial Hospital of Easton. She was born in Dorchester County on March 11, 1938, to the late Grover (Jack) and Therma Tubman. She attended schools in Cambridge and graduated in 1956 from Cambridge High School. Pat worked as an operator at C&P Telephone and at Airpax in production. She drove the school bus for students at Saints Peter and Paul School in Easton and later as a Dorchester County bus driver and driver's aide. Most recently she worked at the Bay Country Shop in Cambridge. Pat married James W. Vickers in the summer of 1956 and had two children. Her second marriage was to Jack Lee Hoffman on April 25, 1965. Pat attended Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge where she was an active member of the Dr. Hines Church Group and a counselor/coordinator for the MYF. She was very devoted to the growth of the church's youth, even called a "pillar" for the church youth, and faithfully attended overnight and weekend events for them. She loved the sun, beach and relaxing, whether in Ocean City, on a cruise ship or on a road trip. She spent a lot of time in the garden, making sure that her flowers were big and bright and well-tended. She also was a faithful attendee of the annual Relay for Life event in Cambridge. Pat was known throughout the community, touched a lot of hearts and will be sorely missed by her family and friends but God needer her more than we do. She is survived by her husband, Jack Lee Hoffman of East New Market; son, Jay Vickers and wife Susan of Pasadena, Md.; a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Vickers of Rhodesdale; a granddaughter, Nicole Harrison of Cambridge; her sister, Nancy Lee Paulson of East New Market; nephews, Kevin Hoffman, Joe Hoffman, Bobby Hoffman, Bryan Hoffman, Rick Hoffman, Chris Hoffman, and Jeff Hoffman; and nieces, Sandy Henry, Traci Insley, and Terry Nuwer. She is also survived by uncles, Robert Tubman, and John Tieder; and aunts, Jean Cantwell, and Barbara Lane. The family will receive friends at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, March 30, 2012. A funeral service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church of Muir and Race Street, Cambridge, on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 11 a.m., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jay Hurley will officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent for the benefit of the MYF at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
