Olivia Ruth Marsh Harris, 75 REEDVILLE, Va. - Olivia Ruth Marsh Harris, 75, of Reedville, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. Born May 3, 1934, on Rhodes Point, Smith Island, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Clara Jane Sneade Marsh. She had been a resident of Reedville for the past 29 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairport Baptist Church in Reedville where she was active in the Women's Missionary Union. Being a homemaker was her pride and joy. She loved to cook and clean, and she worked many hours taking care of her yard and gardening. She was also a wonderful caretaker to anyone who was ill or needed help. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Most especially, she enjoyed visits from all the little children in her family who brought much pleasure and company to her when she was confined to her home. She is survived by her daughter and special son-in-law, Gladys Jane and Glen Bishop of Marion Station, Md.; three grandchildren, Allison Marsh and Scottie Marsh of Crisfield, Md., and Donnie B. Marsh of Rhodes Point; a great-grandson, Carter Marsh of Crisfield; a daughter-in-law, Arbutus Marsh of Rhodes Point; two sisters, Mildred Tyler of Rhodes Point and Gladys Haynie of Reedville; a special step-son, Timothy Harris and his wife Linda of McGaheysville, Va.; a special aunt, Lena Sneade of Rhodes Point; three other step-children; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Buster" Harris in 2004; and two sons, Donnie Marsh in 1982 and Larry Marsh in 2005. A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Pastor's Rick Edmund and Doug Potvin officiated. A second funeral service was held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Fairport Baptist Church in Reedville. Pastor Neale Schools officiated. Interment followed in Roseland Cemetery in Reedville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary United Methodist Church, c/o Mildred Tyler, 3271 Marsh Road, Rhodes Point, MD 21824; or Fairport Baptist Church, c/o Reuben Thrift, 2399 Fairport Road, Reedville, VA 22539.
