Numerous holiday events on tap this weekend and next

A fleet of boats from the Wicomico Yacht Club will cruise the river Saturday evening.

The holiday season arrives in Salisbury this weekend with ice skating, a boat parade and Winter Wonderland with the fun continuing with more events in early December.

Ice Skating

For the second year, the city of Salisbury will host ice skating at the Pohanka Riverwalk Amphitheater starting this Friday, Nov. 29, and continuing every Thursday through Sunday until Dec. 22. The rink will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. Skaters can bring their own ice skates and skate for free or pay $5 to rent a pair.

Winter Wonderland

Wyatt’s Warriors Foundation presents Winter Wonderland at the Salisbury City Park, opening with on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m. The event includes a tree lighting ceremony, free pictures with Santa, Christmas caroling, a Community Dance Party, free hot chocolate and popcorn.

Boat Parade

The Wicomico Yacht Club will host its 32nd annual Christmas Boat Parade on Saturday, Nov. 30. It will start at the Salisbury Marina around 5:30 p.m. and go down river to the Yacht Club. The clubhouse has an elevated view of the river to see the parade. This event will be open to the public. Everyone attending is asked to bring a toy for Toys for Tots.

Salisbury Christmas Parade

The Salisbury Jaycees will host the 73rd annual Salisbury Christmas parade on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. The rain date is Dec. 15. The parade will start at the intersection of Civic Avenue and Mount Hermon Road and will move west along Mount Hermon Road to East Main Street. It will end at the intersection of Ward and East Main streets.

Magi Fund Concert

The Magi Fund will host A Magical Christmas concert on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at James M. Bennett High School. Proceeds benefit Joseph House and the Christian Shelter. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at door. For tickets and more information, visit magifund.com. Tickets are also available at all First Shore Federal Savings and Loan locations and at The Country House on East Main Street.

The Nutcracker

The Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre will present the holiday classic The Nutcracker at the Wicomico High School Auditorium on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 students and adults over 55.
