Norma Lee Newcomb

CHURCH CREEK - Norma Lee Newcomb, 81, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.

She was born in Andrews on Sept. 2, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Norman R. and Maggie Tyler Wroten.

Mrs. Newcomb graduated from Crapo High School. On May 22, 1948 she married James Leroy Newcomb who passed away on April 3, 1991.

Mrs. Newcomb had worked for the late Sewell Simmons and at Rob Roy. She enjoyed gardening and reading. Mrs. Newcomb was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Golden Hill.

Mrs. Newcomb is survived by a daughter, Kay Bradshaw and husband, Lloyd of Golden Hill; a brother, George R. Wroten of Cambridge; two nieces, Betty Willey and Rosemarie Hurley.

Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Newcomb was preceded in death by a brother, David Wroten who died in World War II and a sister, Margaret Pohl.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Pardee Bramble officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be O'Neil Insley, Tommy Bradshaw, Michael Bradshaw, Jay Newcomb, Joe Ammons and George Wroten.
