Nolan Wheatley, 55

TANGIER, Va. - Nolan Lee Wheatley, 55, husband of Linda Diane Etz Wheatley and a lifelong resident of Tangier, Va., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. Born on Sept. 29, 1954, he was the son of the late Gordon V. Wheatley and Ada Stanford Parks Wheatley. He was a deck hand on tugboats for Vane Brothers out of Baltimore, Md/, and was a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church. Other than his wife, survivors include two children, Allison Wheatley Craven and George Ligon, both of Tangier; three sisters, Ruth W. Marshall of Tangier, Portia W. Pruitt of Harrisonburg, Va., and Tina W. Parks of Tangier; a brother, Gordon Wayne Wheatley of Tangier; and two grandsons, Christian Alexander Craven and Zachary Nolan Craven. Funeral services will be conducted at the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Monday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Patricia Stover and Rev. Ed Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the New Testament Church Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 7 until 9 p.m. Memory tributes may be sent to the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.
