Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Fredericksen and the Wicomico County Board of Education have officially set the school leadership teams for the 2014-2015 school year with the appointment of an elementary assistant principal.
The board promoted Dr. Mark Bowen to elementary assistant principal. Dr. Bowen had served since 2012 as the Criminal Justice instructor in the Parkside High School Department of Career & Technology Education.
He will serve as an Assistant Principal at Delmar Elementary School effective immediately.
Dr. Bowen began his teaching career in 1988 at Berlin Middle School as a social studies teacher. He served as an assistant principal at Wicomico Middle School under then Principal Bill Evans.
Dr. Bowen was principal of Buckingham Elementary School in Berlin from 1997-2000. He has also served as a Supervisor of Instruction for Wicomico County Public Schools and Director of Gang Intelligence for the State of Maryland, prior to teaching Criminal Justice at Parkside.

Dr. Bowen earned a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Maryland, a Master of Education from Salisbury University, and a Doctor of Religious Education from Covington Theological Seminary. He currently holds a valid Maryland Teaching Certificate in the areas of Social Studies, Administrator I, Administrator II, and Superintendent.
