Nancy Fowlkes Allen

SALISBURY - Nancy Fowlkes Allen died Tuesday, April 10, 2018. The daughter of the late Col. and Mrs. Benjamin Cobb Fowlkes, she lived in many different places during her childhood as her father was a West Point career military officer.
She was educated at Duke University. She served on the Board of Trustees of The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and was instrumental in founding The Salisbury School.
She is survived by three children, A. Gillis Allen II, Nancy A. Allen and Jennifer L. Allen; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Foncie Bullard.
Her husband, Richard M. Allen, died in 2008. Her oldest son, Richard M. Allen Jr., died in 1964.
A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 4 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Salisbury. The Rev. David Michaud will officiate. Friends may call on the family one hour before the service in the Harrington Room at St. Peter's. A private interment will immediately follow the service. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
