LINKWOOD - Monroe William Pinder, 95, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at his home.
He was born July 30, 1911, in Bucktown, son of the late Charles and Victoria Lake Pinder.
"Buddy," as he was called, was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County.
He loved farming and was a farmer most of his life. Mr. Pinder was also employed with Coldwater Seafood as a security guard, ConAgra Poultry in Hurlock and Nabisco, Inc. He also owned and operated a sawmill in Linkwood and Bucktown, and a hunting club in Bucktown.
Mr. Pinder was a member of Bazzel United Methodist Episcopal Church in Bucktown, and served as a trustee. Later he attended Christ United Methodist Church. Both churches are now a part of the Cambridge-Church Creek Charge. While at Christ UM Church, Buddy loved attending Bible Study.
He had a great knowledge of his family heritage and was instrumental to the community in sharing his family history.
Monroe was formerly married to Louise Henry Thompson, who predeceased him. From this union they were blessed with 12 children. Later he married Mable Edwards, who is also decease.
In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by a daughter, DeRue Duke and three sons-in-law, Thomas Duke, Arthur Brummell and Arenzo Pinder.
Mr. Pinder is survived by seven daughters, Louise Brummell of Trappe, Edith Pinder of Salem, Doris Sampson (Jacob) of Thompsontown, Dorine Pinder of Hurlock, Alfreda Major (Reginald) of Cambridge, Selestine Pinder of Baltimore and Victoria Henry (Fleetwood) of Cambridge; four sons, Marvin Pinder (Helen) of Trappe, Bernard Pinder of Cambridge, Donald Pinder of Cambridge and Tyrone Pinder (Vernetter) of Linkwood; two stepdaughters, Barbara Jordan (William) of New Castle, Del. and Gloria Mayes (Melvin); two sisters, Devenia Wallace and Flossie G. Pinder both of Salisbury; four sisters-in-law, Vernett Phelps and Lorraine Henry both of Cambridge, Pearl Dashiell and Bertha Welmon (Harry Sr.) both of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers-in-law, Wallace Edwards of New Jersey and Wadell Thompson of Philadelphia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at Henry Funeral Home, PA., 510 Washington St., Cambridge. Burial will follow in Bucktown Cemetery. There will be a viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
