Miriam J. Willey

CAMBRIDGE - Miriam J. Willey, age 68, of Bucktown, Cambridge, died Sunday morning, Sept. 26, 2010, at her daughter's home. Born Oct. 11, 1941, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Riley North, Sr. and Oseola Abbott North. On Nov. 22, 1957, she married John A. Willey. He died on Sept. 9, 2001. Mrs. Willey was a devoted member of Bucktown United Methodist Church and had enjoyed assisting in the organization of the church bazaars and luncheons. Mrs. Willey retired in 2001 from the shipping department at Airpax. Mrs. Willey was an extensive traveler and was fortunate to see most of the world. She enjoyed shopping, casinos and attending luncheons with her fellow former co workers. She was proud of her family and loved them very much. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Harrison and her husband Franklin of Cambridge, and Teresa Robinson and her husband Steve of Cambridge; four grandchildren, John Lee Harrison, Ashley Ellis, Stephanie Joseph, and Christie Wingate; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew Joseph, Alexander Joseph, Ava Joseph, Chase Harrison, Alyssa Harrison, Chloe Harrison, Brayde Ellis, and Noah Ellis; three siblings, Rebecca Lowe Trice and her husband Walt of Trappe, Herbert Riley North, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Griffiths Neck, Cambridge, and Thelma Emily Smith and her husband William of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews; many friends including her special friend, Peggy James of Cambridge. Funeral services were 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where the family received friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service was The Rev. Mary Ann Farnell, Pastor. Interment followed at Bucktown United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jamie Brohawn, Ralph Lewis, John Harrison, Troy Ellis, Shawn Wingate and Walt Trice. Billy Joe Lowe served as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by sending memorial offerings to Bucktown United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Barbara Harrison, 2987 Greenbrier Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613.
