The Salisbury University Foundation has welcomed three new members to its board of directors: Rafael Correa, Dwight Miller and Dave Rommel.

"We appreciate the diverse experiences and wide range of business backgrounds that our three new members bring to the board," said T. Greg Prince, executive director of the SU Foundation and vice president of advancement and external affairs at SU.

"All are uniquely connected to the University through personal and family ties. Ultimately, students and faculty will benefit from their involvement."

Rafael Correa Correa, a two-time SU graduate, earned a bachelor’s in accounting in 2003 and a master’s in Business Administration in 2010.

He is chief financial officer at Blue Water Development Corp. in Berlin. He also is a co-owner of The Personal Wellness Center in Salisbury. Previously, he was vice president of both supply chain and operations at MaTech Inc.

He serves on the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business Career Advisory Board, the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore's audit committee and the Ocean City Center for the Arts' finance committee.

While a student, he studied abroad, was an Admissions ambassador and participated in Beta Gamma Sigma and rugby. He and his wife, Lindsey, have one son.

Miller earned a bachelor’s in business, with concentrations in marketing and finance from SU in 1982. President of GGI Builders Inc., T/A Gillis Gilkerson, in Salisbury, he has more than 30 years of experience in commercial, medical, industrial and multi-family construction management.

A former lacrosse player, he is a supporter of SU Athletics and the Maroon & Gold Club.

In the community, Miller has been active with groups and charities including, the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, the Wicomico County Rotary Club and the Greater Salisbury Committee. He also currently serves on the Salisbury-Wicomico Economic Development board.

He and his wife, LuAnne, have two children.

Rommel owns Rommel Harley-Davidson, a network of seven dealerships stretching from Delmarva and Annapolis to Durham, N.C., and Scranton, Pa. His construction group includes Rommel Electric, Rommel Engineering & Construction, Rommel Cranston and the Farfield Co.

He also owns Rommel Holdings, which operates Ace Hardware stores and other businesses. His mother is a graduate of SU's Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies, and he attended the Campus School at the then-Salisbury State Teachers College.

Rommel has supported the SU Golf Classic and community entities including Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Coastal Hospice and Beebe Medical Center.

He serves on PRMC's Board of Trustees and is vice chair of its foundation board. He and his wife, Patsy, enjoy traveling.

Guided by a 31-member board, the SU Foundation was created in 1973 to accumulate funds by gift and investment to enhance the University. Since then, it has enriched the academic growth and physical expansion of SU through the support of student scholarships, faculty research, new facilities and community outreach.
