Mildred Marie Parks

Tangier Island - Mildred Marie "Millie" Parks died Sat., Mar. 7, 2015 at her home. Born in Virginia on Sept. 12, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Wheatley. Her husband, Page Edmonds Parks, preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1986. She was a homemaker and a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harry Smith Parks; a daughter, Anita Lumsden; a brother, Harry Smith Wheatley; a sister, Bertie Ann Parks; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson. She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Daley and Patti Crockett, both of Tangier; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services officiated by the Rev. John Flood and Mr. Duane Crockett were Wed., Mar. 11, 2015 at 2 PM at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church where a viewing was Tues. evening from 7-9. Interment followed in the Wheatley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Swain Memorial U. M. Church, P.O. Box 199, Tangier, VA 23440.
