Pennsylvania shooter who killed 8 was family’s patriarch, father of toddler killed says
SUMMARY: A man whose toddler was among eight people killed in a mass shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, says the gunman was a grandfather who never seemed distressed or out of the ordinary. Julius Windham said Sunday that he believed the 45-year-old shooter’s affable demeanor was “a front.” Windham spoke to The Associated Press as he stood at a memorial to victims of Friday’s shooting, including his 1-year-old daughter Amarianna, her pregnant mother and the woman’s 5-year-old son and unborn baby. The gunman took his own life. Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah says he was related to seven of the victims.

High prices are testing Latino voter loyalties in a key battleground district
SUMMARY: Victor Martinez runs a Spanish-language radio station in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley and talks about voters' frustration with everyday realities like higher fuel prices and inflation ahead of next month’s midterm election. Martinez added an hour of politics talk to his morning radio show at the end of President Donald Trump's first term, and the segment took off with his audience. As the Republican president's second term reaches its halfway point, Martinez says he’s sensing that voters are just as frustrated with the economy as they were two years ago. But this time, it's Republicans who could face the consequences.

Jayden Daniels returns for the Commanders and leads an early touchdown drive against the Giants
SUMMARY: Jayden Daniels returned to the field, completed a couple of passes and withstood a tackle with no apparent distress. The Washington Commanders needed just four offensive plays to reach the end zone against the New York Giants. Daniels is back from his Week 2 injury — a dislocated elbow on his non-throwing elbow. He’s now using a brace on that left arm. Despite miserable, rainy conditions Sunday, the Commanders came out passing. Daniels completed an 11-yard throw to Chig Okonkwo. Then Daniels had to scramble for a 2-yard gain and was brought down without issue. The drive ended with a 33-yard touchdown run by Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

Jayden Daniels returns and scores twice, but overtime gaffe costs Commanders in 27-27 tie vs. Giants
SUMMARY: Jayden Daniels took off on an ill-advised scramble in the closing seconds of overtime with the Commanders in field goal range and Washington was unable to stop the clock before time expired, settling for a 27-27 tie with the New York Giants. Washington got the ball with 2 minutes left in OT when Daron Payne stripped the ball from Cam Skattebo with the Giants in range for a game-ending field goal. Daniels quickly moved the Commanders to the Giants 24, but with 12 seconds left and Washington with no timeouts, he held onto the ball and went down for no gain. Washington had no timeouts and Daniels couldn't spike the ball.

Here's how both the Giants and the Commanders turned a likely victory into a tie
SUMMARY: With the game tied at 27, both the Washington Commanders and New York Giants had chances to run the clock down and kick a routine field goal to win in overtime. Then each team blew it. Instead of taking a knee to run down the clock, the Giants handed the ball to Cam Skattebo, who fumbled. Then Washington drove into field goal range, only for Jayden Daniels to be tackled inbounds with less than 10 seconds remaining and the Commanders out of timeouts.

Sirianni takes blame for late-game decisions in Philly's 19-17 loss to Jaguars in London
SUMMARY: The Eagles kicked a go-ahead field goal with 8 seconds left in London. And they lost. That’s how it’s going for Philadelphia these days. The Jaguars pulled off an improbable 19-17 victory on Cam Little’s 57-yard field goal as time expired at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Eagles have lost three in a row and are 2-3 for the first time since 2021. Jalen Hurts had led a late-game drive to set up Jake Elliott’s 48-yard field goal, giving the Eagles a 17-16 lead. All they had to do was finish off the final 8 seconds. But the ensuing kickoff was kept inbounds and Ameer Abdullah returned it 53 yards, leaving 1 second on the clock. A late botched punt in rain helps sink Browns in loss to Jets that ends 3-game win streak
SUMMARY: Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns were close to pulling off another fourth-quarter comeback, but it slipped away against the New York Jets. A botched punt in the rain led to a 17-12 loss, ending a three-game winning streak. Coach Todd Monken said the team didn't play cleanly enough. Michael Jordan jersey sets $14 million record for basketball memorabilia, auction house says
SUMMARY: A game-worn, autographed Michael Jordan road jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals has been privately sold for $14 million in what an auction house says is the highest price ever paid for a piece of basketball memorabilia. Pennsylvania-based Hunt Auctions announced the private treaty sale Monday and identified the buyer as Miami real estate executive Ron Firman. The red jersey is the one Jordan wore in Game 2 of that series on June 5, 1998. He and the Chicago Bulls beat the Utah Jazz that night to even the matchup at a game apiece.

Eagles and Commanders make poor decisions that cost them wins during tough week for NFC East
SUMMARY: Poor situational management cost Philadelphia and Washington victories. The Giants squandered chances, too. It was a tough Sunday for the NFC East and a rough Week 5 altogether for the division, including Dallas losing at home on Thursday night to a previously winless team and an undrafted rookie quarterback. The depleted Eagles gave away an improbable victory in London. The Commanders inexplicably ran the clock out on themselves in field-goal range and had to settle for a tie against the Giants, who wasted two chances to win in overtime.
