Mervin Louis Martin

PITTSVILLE - Mervin Louis Martin, 69, of Pittsville, died Sunday, July 31, 2016. He was the son of the late William I. Martin and Mamie E. Mariner. He graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1964, where he was an avid basketball player. He worked for R D Grier & Sons, DEMCO, Adkins Lumber of Ocean City and OC Service & Supply for over 40 years combined. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT at Willard Volunteer Fire Department, as well as a volunteer for Peninsula Regional Medical Center in the Emergency Deparetment. He is survived by his children, Michael A. Martin of Alexander, N.C., Michelle L. Sidders of Middleburg, Fla., and Joyce E. Elliott; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews, a sister, Patricia E. Trader; and a former wife, JoAnn F. Martin. In addition to his parents and stepparents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Ann Robbins and a brother Robert I. Martin Sr. The family gathered Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at the Eden United Methodist Church in Willards. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
