TORNADO WARNING

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...

West central Allegany County in western Maryland...

Northeastern Garrett County in western Maryland...

* Until 215 PM EDT.

* At 149 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado

was located near Bittinger, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown,

flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without

shelter. Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur.

Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is

likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...

Lonaconing around 155 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include

Dogwood Flats, Cresaptown, Midland, Merrill, Reynolds, Big Run State

Park, Barton, Woodland, Midlothian, and Franklin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest

floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter

and protect yourself from flying debris.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 PM EDT

FOR GARRETT COUNTY...

At 151 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms with a history of producing wind

damage were located along a line extending from near Meyersdale to

near Bittinger to near Loch Lynn Heights, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to

fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage

homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed

trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured

light objects may become projectiles.

Locations impacted include...

Mountain Lake Park, Oakland, Bayard, Bittinger, Grantsville, Loch

Lynn Heights, Deer Park, Accident, Redhouse, Hutton, Gorman,

Jennings, Crellin, Deep Creek Lake State Park, Swallow Falls State

Park, McHenry, Big Run State Park, Piney Grove, McComas Beach, and

Merrill.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a

building.
