BISHOPS HEAD - May E. Mills, 96, passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge.
She was born at Bishops Head on Nov. 6, 1910, and was a daughter of the late Perry Wesley and Birsinia Jones Bramble.
Mrs. Mills attended schools at Bishops Head and graduated from Crapo High School in 1927. For a brief time she had attended Salisbury Normal School.
On Dec. 2, 1928, she was married to John Naaman Mills. Mr. Mills passed away on March 14, 1974.
Mrs. Mills was a member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church at Bishops Head where she was assistant superintendent and later superintendent for many years. She also sang in the choir at St. Thomas and sang as a soloist at various churches throughout the county.
Mrs. Mills had worked as a crab picker for a number of years and last worked at I. F. Cannon.
She had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge since June 1, 2001.
Her survivors include several nieces and nephews and special friends, Phyllis and Donald Mills of Bishops Head.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, George Bramble, Dallas Bramble, Albert Bramble and Elmer Bramble and two sisters, Wilhemina Bramble and Edith Bramble.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.
