Mary Ellen Scott, 84

SALISBURY - Mary Ellen Scott, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury. She was 84. Born in Crisfield, she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee Charnick Sr. and Bernice Butler Charnick. She was a registered nurse for 45 years retiring in 1984 as Director of Nursing at the Somerset County Health Department. She was a member of the Allen Memorial Baptist Church and was a past president of the Business and Professional Women's Association. She loved fishing with her late husband, and for several years held the state record for striped bass and red drum. She is survived by her son, Lake Edward Scott Jr. and his wife Jo Anne, of Salisbury; a grandson, Jeffrey Lake Scott Sr., of Millsboro; three great-grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Scott Jr., Johnathan L. Scott and Mary F. Scott, all of Salisbury; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, lake Ewell Scott Sr. in 2004; and a brother, Edward Lee Charnick Jr. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. Samuel Horner. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Sunnyridge Memorial Park, Crisfield. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Somerset Free Methodist Church, c/o Becky Corbin, 26739 Old State Road, Crisfield, MD 21817.
