PARSONSBURG - Mary Ann Adkins died on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Parsonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Bertha Owens. She was a member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury, where she previously served as the church librarian, taught Sunday School and led the youth group. She was previously a member of Zion United Methodist Church and the Mar Zion Homemakers, where she served four years as president. She was a 1945 graduate of Wicomico High School. Following graduation, she went to work for the city of Salisbury in the tax department. She also run the family business, Fred B. Adkins & Sons. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Fred B. Adkins of Parsonsburg; a son, Gaylon Adkins of Parsonsburg; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary T. Adkins; four brothers, Everett, Elton, Thomas and Ralph Owens; and a sister, Emma Lutes. A funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial was in Wicomico Memorial Park.
