Martha Colinda Griffith, 93
SALISBURY - Martha Colinda Griffith, died on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in her home after a long illness, just six days before her 94th birthday. She was 93. Born in Siloam, she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Martha Bounds Banks. Colinda lived and worked in Cambridge for Follingsby Company for 25 years, until she retired and moved to Florida with her late husband, William C. Griffith. She was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, Minerva Chapter 050 and the Elks Lodge 1272. She has lived in Salisbury for the past 16 years. Mrs. Griffith loved to garden and do needlework and was always an avid bingo fan. She will be well remembered as a giving and loving person and was the oldest surviving family member of Gabriel and Martha Banks, being the youngest of 13 children. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Travers, of St. Augustine, Fla.; her two granddaughters, Linda Ostrander and husband David, along with their two sons, Jonathan and Christopher, of Fairfax, Va., and Vicki Hunt and her husband Andrew, with their sons, Drew and Taylor, of McLean, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. The viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at St. Andrews Church, with the funeral service immediately following. The Pastor Sally Dolch will officiate. Burial will be in Siloam, followed by a reception back at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the staff of Bounds Funeral Home, 705 E. Main St., Salisbury, MD 21801.
