Marion M. Barkley Sr.

EDEN - Marion Maurice Barkley, Sr. died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Guiding Hands Assisted Living in Berlin. Born in Allen, he was the son of the late Bernie Barkley and Pearline Polk Barkley.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a supervisor at Campbell Soup Co. in Salisbury. He was later employed by Delmarva Power & Light Co. in Salisbury, retiring after 21 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Clara R. Barkley; three sons, Marion M. Barkley Jr., Laval A. "Scooter" Barkley Sr. and Brett O. Barkley, Sr.; four daughters, Robin G. Wright, Cassandra Williams, Patricia Starks and Takiya L. Barkley; three sisters, Frances Burke, Lillian Johnson and Alberta Davis; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by six brothers, Roscoe Barkley Sr., Theodore Barkley, Robert Polk, Lawrence Dorman, Charles Barkley and LyCurtis "Tex" Barkley; and one sister, Cleo Edwards.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Salisbury. Interment was at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
