PITTSVILLE - Marilynne Joyce Shockley died Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Gull Creek Senior Community in Berlin. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Glen F. Stevens and Maxine Hancock Helms. In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Godfrey Shockley. She enjoyed a career in nursing and graduated from the Franklin Square School of Nursing in Baltimore. She was employed as a registered nurse for Peninsula Regional Medical Center. She was a Jehovah's Witness and cherished all her friends at the Kingdom Hall. She is survived by two sons, Samuel Glenn Shockley and Stephen G. Shockley of Pittsville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Stevens and Michael Stevens; and a sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Miscione. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on West Street in Berlin. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
