SALISBURY - Marie Soderlund Shaffer, formerly of Salisbury, died Sunday, April 26, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Rockville, Md. Born in Clearfield, Pa., she was the daughter of Victor August Soderlund and Emma Ogren Soderlund. She worked for several years in a law office before marrying in 1939. She and her husband lived in multiple locations, before settling in Salisbury in 1954. She was a member of Rockawalkin United Methodist Church, where she taught an adult Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Women. She is survived by three sons, Dr. Edward T. Shaffer of Salisbury, Dr. Daniel L. Shaffer of Bozeman, Mont., and Dr. David N. Shaffer of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Janice S. Wright of Rockville, Md.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Shaffer; and two brothers, Carl and Edward Soderlund. She will be laid to rest in a private service at Rockawalkin Church Cemetery in Hebron. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
