HEBRON - Margaret Jackson Hayman died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at Coastal Hospice At The Lake. Born in Hebron, she was the daughter of the late William Wilmer Jackson and Elizabeth Ellis Jackson. After graduating from Hebron High School, she attended Strayer Business College in Washington, D.C. She performed secretarial and bookkeeping duties for many local businesses before concentrating her time on family and the family-run you-pick farming operation, where she was affectionately known as "Mama Strawberry." She volunteered for many years at the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department catering banquets, with wedding cakes as her specialty. She has been a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Hebron, Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury and, most recently, Rockawalkin United Methodish Church in Hebron. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles S. Hayman Jr; her son, Stanley R. Hayman; her daughter, Jane Hayman Bratten; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Jackson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Dean Ellis Jackson. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
