Teams forming for MAC Inc. golf event
MAC Inc., the Area Agency on Aging, is sponsoring a golf tournament on Wednesday, May 19, at Nutters Crossing Golf Club in Salisbury.
Spend a day golfing on the beautiful Nutters Crossing golf course and help provide nutritious meals to home-bound seniors … it’s the next best thing to a hole-in-one! Team registration is under way, and sponsors are needed.
Sponsor packages are available for all levels of charitable support. Your tax-free gift will benefit MAC’s Meals on Wheels program, which provides home-delivered meals to seniors who are unable to prepare their own meals. Many of our elderly neighbors are isolated and alone and need help in securing the most basic of human necessities – food.
If you prefer to play in the event, the cost is $400 per team of four; register by March 31 for a $50 discount. Don’t have a foursome -- no problem. MAC will set you up with a team. Individual registration is $125.
Tournament registration begins at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. A delicious lunch featuring Grilled Hawaiian Chicken and Memphis Pork BBQ, and cash prizes and other awards are planned for 2 p.m.
For more information on the golf tournament, call Mike Hedlesky at 410-742-0505, ext. 166. Information on the event also is available on the MAC website at macinc.org.
United Way Open Golf Tournament
United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore will bring back the United Way Open Golf Tournament on Friday, May 14.
This year, players will spend the day on the links at Green Hill Country Club in Quantico. Golfers will enjoy a socially distanced afternoon of networking, food & drinks, and fun incentives along the beautiful Wicomico River.
The year’s event will be a scramble that will kick off with registration and a bagged lunch at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon.
During the tournament, players will have a chance to compete for different prizes such as the Top 3 for Gross & Net, closest to the pin, and a hole-in-one competition with a chance to win a new car provided by Pohanka of Salisbury. The afternoon will end with a presentation of all the winners from the round.
“As a proud supporter of UWLES, it was an honor to be asked to help bring back the United Way Open Golf Tournament. It will be exciting to get back on the course with many of the local businesses that help impact so positively our neighbors on the Lower Shore,” said committee member Kevin J. Hayes
Registrations for team sponsorship packages as well as non-team sponsorships and onsite player bundles are available online at bidpal.net/UnitedWayOpen. All proceeds from this event will stay local for UWLES and their nonprofit partners to help impact 1 in 3 neighbors who are still struggling in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomcio & Worcester counties.
For more information on the event or sponsorship opportunities contact Courtney Hastings at UWLES at courtney@uwles.org or 410-742-5143 or visit uwles.org/UnitedWayOpen.
