SALISBURY - Mable Catherine Morris Thomas died at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Aug. 29, 2017, after a long illness. Born in Crisfield, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Bernice Sterling Ward. She graduated from Crisfield High School in 1944, where she was president of the 1944 Class and valedictorian. In the postwar era, she worked at the Dulany Foods Co. in Fruitland, where she was a secretary. She was later employed as an office secretary at Prince Street School. In the early 1970s, she began working at Salisbury University, retiring after 17 years in the Admissions Department. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury for over 50 years, where she sang with the choir for nearly 40 of those years. She was a former member of the Elks Club Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Craig Morris of Los Angeles and Dale Morris of Philadelphia; two stepsons, Duffy Thomas of Salisbury and Patrick Thomas of Willards; and four step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Morris in 1962. She was recently predeceased by her second husband of 44 years, Delmas Thomas. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Peggy Ward Willis; and two brothers, Jim and Bill Ward. A memorial service was held at Asbury United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017. Interment was at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
