SALISBURY - Luther Beauchamp "Beach" Bloodsworth, Jr., died Tuesday, Apr. 4, 2017, at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. Born in Champ in Somerset County, he was the son of the late Luther and Agnes Bozman Bloodsworth. Following graduation from Washington High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in late summer 1942. He graduated from the U.S. Army Air Forces Advanced Flying School and was assigned as a flight instructor at the Basic Flying School at Maxwell Field, instructing in a Vultee BT-13B "Valiant." In 1945, he was assigned to train as an aircraft commander in a B-24 Liberator Squadron. When the Korean Conflict erupted, he returned to active duty as an aircraft commander in a B-29 Superfortress squadron. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1954, he became a pilot with Chesapeake Airways and Parson's Aerial Crop Service in Salisbury. He went on to own and operate Bloodsworth Aerial Crop Service, until his retirement in 1971. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy Bloodsworth; and two brothers, Douglas Bloodsworth and Walter Bloodsworth. He is survived by four children, Barbara Taylor, of Pahrump, Nev., Stephen Bloodsworth, of Silver Spring, Laurie Warner, of Baltimore and Julie Werner, of Oviedo, Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. All services will be private. Arrangements are in the car of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
