Lucy Manning

MARION STATION - Lucy Manning, formerly of West Virginia and Baltimore, died Fri., Aug. 30, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Stephenson, W. Va. on Mar. 31, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Mary Mills Lester. She was a factory worker at General Electric in Columbia, Md. retiring in 1985. She had been making her home in Marion Station since 1990. She was a devoted member of the Crisfield Church of God where she enjoyed working in church functions and helping with numerous activities. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Archie Lester and Sherman Lester; a brother-in-law, Roger Carter; and a sister-in-law, Florence Lester. She is survived by her husband, Gene Manning of Marion Station; her son, Gene Manning "Speedy", Jr. and wife Kathy of Severna Park, Md.; two grandchildren, Hailey Manning and Tyler Manning of Severna Park; two brothers, Dillard Lester of Columbus, Ohio and Gilbert Lester, Jr. and wife Sue of Beckley, W. Va.; two sisters, Joanne Brannen and husband Richard of Matoaka, W. Va. and Mary Charlotte Carter of Slabfork, W. Va.; sister-in-law, Barbara Lester of Stephenson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Harvey Tyler were held Tues., Sept. 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Crisfield Church of God. A viewing was held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the Crisfield Church of God, 134 Maryland Avenue, Crisfield, MD 21817.
