TRAPPE - Lucille Garrett, of Trappe, died in the home of her daughter, on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009. She was 86. Born in the Hudson area of Dorchester County on Nov. 28, 1922, she was the daughter of the late, Harry and Lottie Rhea Parrott. Harry was known to be the last fish peddler in Trappe. As a young child she and her family moved to Trappe. Following her graduation from Trappe High School, Mrs. Garrett worked as an assistant cook at Trappe High School. She later worked as a nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital at Easton then at Genesis Eldercare "The Pines" until her retirement. Mrs. Garrett was also a gifted seamstress and did alterations to women's clothes and was known to give home permanent's. Her husband of 57 years, David P. Garrett died in May 1997. Known for her generosity, Mrs. Garrett, loved cooking, baking, canning and making all types of preserves. She also enjoyed her flower garden, watching birds, and doing all sorts of crafts, and was an avid John Wayne and Baltimore Orioles fan. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who spoiled her grandchildren and children equally. Mrs. Garrett is survived by three daughters, Joan E. Mowbray of Cambridge, Linda P. Garrett of Parkville and N. Susan Shores and her husband Tom of Trappe; one son, John D. Garrett of Trappe; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren on the way. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Whitemarsh Cemetery, Trappe.
