Mrs. Louise Kent (Linkins) Bezdek Seely, born on Feb. 13, 1913 in Washington, D.C., passed away at age 105 on Feb. 15, 2018 in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel Kent and William H. Linkins; by her brothers, William and Kent Linkins; and by her husbands, Hugo F. Bezdek II and rear admiral Harry W. Seely.
Louise is survived by her sons, Hugo F. Bezdek III and James C. Bezdek; grandchildren, Rachel Shields, Diane Laird, Mark Bezdek, Eric Bezdek, Kristin Bezdek Runnels, and Tanya Bezdek Sheehan; and by many grand and great-grandchildren.
Louise graduated from the University of Richmond with a master's degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked at a hospital in Washington D.C., and eventually moved to the NIH, where she worked until retiring in 1976. She moved to Cambridge, Md. after retirement, and then on to Tampa, Fla., and finally, she moved to Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach, Fla. after the death of her husband, Harry Seely.
She was very active after moving to Fleet Landing in volunteer activities such as the public library and the local hospital, where she knitted caps and mittens for newborns for over twenty years. Louise enjoyed playing bridge, doing ornamental flower arrangements, knitting and reading. She was an avid family historian, and provided many details for the forthcoming Amazon book "History of Arundel on the Bay" about life on the Chesapeake Bay.
